Before it was still there (ode to the fourth)
Before it
was still there (ode to the fourth)
Bloodshed to
no end hope lost in the powder smoke
Nature crying
in the fog of man’s petty disregard for life
Some looked
up why? If the answers were there the whispers was too soft
The enemy tasting
the victory
Swaggering their
dominance on the insurgents
Out not far
from shore held against the freedom
Looking across
at a simple pole
Cloth woven
with pride and blood and the dare to dream
Many who
believed subjects were for schools not for all
A small end
of the cloth showed that red white and blue doesn’t give to fear
The fourth
was many years ago for this was the second stand
An innocence
that others took for granted
While still
some think fear and switch still work
Remember for
the ones who did what they did so we have our way now
When the
stars shine and the candy stripe guides them
Give a small
part of your mind we are all this
With these
opinions doesn’t mean others are wrong
Bless us all
and the ones who really sacrificed and didn’t see how far we have come
Fie works
and barbeques and beaches honor the founders
Enjoy the
real spirit for they never got to experience this
From a heart
of an American bless you all
Before it
was still there
