Cupid’s empty quiver (An ode for Valentines day)
Cupid’s empty
quiver
Oh you
little archer
You have had
a limited supply for me
Now as the
time speeds and slips by
Arrows I see
no more
Seeing the
beautiful angels every day in every dream
The romance,
the passion
Kindness
from those little points you shoot
The mirror
has only one reflection
That reveals
the large emptiness behind us who see more
More sparks
in the walking angels’ eyes
Heart in too
much scarring to be broken
The passion
hidden beneath
You little
love soldier
Seems like
in the secrets of romance
You decided
to become a statue of what was
Denying hugs
the sweetness of holding hands
A gleam of
enchanting eyes
A lesser one
of the throbbing heart
Butterflies in
the stomach not missed
No arrow for
the first kiss
Would curse
you
Past loves
is the ghosts
Of times of
what was good
Develop some
new missiles
Crafty you
are wasting on the ones who treat it like yesterday’s poison
Dare you
cupid take your best shot
One more
that means more than of the echoes ago
Charmed I am
sure
Laughter in
the deluge of misery
Hope keeps
the fire
So cupids
keep the quiver empty
Love means
more than what once was
Cupid’s
empty quiver
