Under the Christmas tree
Under the Christmas
tree
The excitement
has faded
Cookies and
milk and carrots childhood memories
Looking at
big wrapped gifts now with eyes closed
A magic that
only seemed to come at the tree
Some swear
it’s not their way anymore
I find
emptiness may be there, not in the heart though
Seeing the
smile from the child hidden in back of a mirror
The surface
others see emptiness
Missing the
mistletoe moments
The future
no one knows
Find the
star of the tree and make the wish
Seeing the
strength of what the true meaning is
Some see
nothing around the tree
The memories
are richer than anything can replace
No menses to
mend
Loved ones
are higher than the Christmas star now
Calmness will
be the Christmas Eve way
The past
memories good and bad keep the heart filled
Waiting for
a moment where to feel it shared again
Many may see
nothing
Some will
feel sad
Love is
there and waiting to be unwrapped
Under the Christmas
tree
