A boy told Santa
A boy told Santa
While Samuel stopped
at a coffee shop one day a man who ended up being St Nick was there. Being
somewhat of a jolly soul he made some conversation. Samuel seemed a bit
depressed St Nick held his hot chocolate up and said to the Sam “I know you
Samuel what you did for the boy and his mom was truly the Christmas spirit.”
Samuel acted a bit surprised and thought for a moment, I haven’t done anything
special for Christmas. “Sorry how did you know my name, have we met before?”
Samuel asks. “Samuel it’s been many years the boy and mom have passed on now.
That Christmas long ago when the boy was staring at Christmas trees and the mom
who was ill and they couldn’t afford the tree. You talked with the boy and got
him a tree and you asked the boy if he wanted anything for Christmas and he said
for his mom to have a Christmas tree for the angels were coming to bring her to
heaven.” St Nick tells him this and Samuel remembers. “Yes I never knew of a
child like that before so selfless and like any boy loves his mother that much.”
Samuel with humility looks up. “How did you know and why are you telling me
this?” Samuel asks. “For that changed you and I made a promise one year also to
the boy who gave me this letter.” St Nick in his deep jolly voice as he pulls
the letter out.
The letter was
fairly simple for after the Christmas the mom passed away and the boy had
cancer soon followed. Dear kind sir, I don’t know your name yet but the angels
that helped my mom to heaven also have been talking with me. They asked me to
tell you this. The boy who was selfless was like any child dear to us. Your
selfless act was also recognized, we also know you do something like this all
the time. We know the loved one that you really cared about have moved on and
is with us. This Christmas a special gift will be for you. Tell St Nick to
cheer up. He worries about you.
“Ok anybody
could have written this letter.” Samuel says to St Nick.
“Oh, Samuel you
bring little joy to people all the time, so many don’t give you how much they
do appreciate this. Come Christmas they will.” St Nick giving Samuel a curious
look with a twinkle in his eye.
“I know this
year will be hard though my siblings have their own families and they have all
grown up also and have kids and families of their own. I feel like the shovel
when things get tough that’s when they need me after it’s over they are gone.”
Samuel in a disgusted and hurt voice while sipping his coffee.
“Christmas eve
you will have a big surprise the angels will show you that you are loved.” St
Nick gives Samuel a shoulder grab as he gets up and starts to walk away.
“Wait St Nick
letter said for to me to say cheer up to you, why? Samuel asks.
“See Samuel
you are a very good human even when you are down you think of others. The mother
wrote that. When I went to deliver to their house to leave extra angel love the
letter was there for me to bring to you. They knew you would need this gift.
They still haven’t forgotten you. Now I must go Merry Christmas Samuel.” St
Nick sincere and jolly answers as he walks out through the door.
“Merry
Christmas.” Samuel still stunned looking at the letter and thinking why be depressed
by this loneliness. Good deeds do get recognized. He quickly shook it off
Christmas Eve
came and Samuel waited and dozed off in his chair. He was awakened by sounds
off gentle voices. Three angels stood holding their hands out for him to take
with bright lights.
“Am I dead?”
Samuel asks the angels just made the gesture to be quiet. In thought he heard
one say this is your gift you are not ready to leave your existence. He walks
with the beings of light, they bring him to a home. The Christmas morning of
the mother and child that Christmas he bought the tree for them. The mother and
son said that man must have been Santa Claus or an angel, the mother told the
son never to forget that man. The letter was gone so Santa will do this
Christmas wish.
Samuel had
such a warm feeling his thoughts of leaving this world behind was gone. He knows
what the true meaning is now. To be selfless can be selfish and every good deed
does get reward it may not be seen or heard but is spoken softly like a silent
night. So everyone let’s be Samuel make every day Christmas.
MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL
